School of Art and Design—Fakultet za umetnost i dizajn—FUD is an institution dedicated to educating creative people.
School of Art and Design (FUD) in Belgrade has been accredited by the Ministry of Science, and is the integral part of the educational system of Republic of Serbia.
The educational mission of the School is to educate creative people who will acquire knowledge and experience that will enable them to follow current trends and become leaders in their fields. FUD graduates will be equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge to successfully devise and develop new designs in different artistic disciplines, and to promote them on the open market, both in Serbia and internationally.
FUD offers the following accredited programs:
I. Undergraduate studies: Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA)
II. Graduate studies: Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA)
III. Doctoral studies: Doctoral degree in Fine Arts (Ph.D. in Fine Arts)
I. Undergraduate studies of applied arts and design at FUD last four years (eight semesters), and all courses are semester-long. Full credits for four-year program: 240 ECTS.
The first year consists of general introductory courses in art history, history of design, visual communications, introductory studio art (photography, drawing, sculpture), and English language.
The second year is the beginning of specialization in one of the areas of study:
- Graphic design
- Industrial design
- Interior design
- Fashion and textile design
- Scenography
- Film studies
The third year is devoted to theoretical courses, accompanied by intensive creative work, within the chosen department.
The fourth year is devoted to highly-specialized topics in chosen fields and individual design projects. In addition to mandatory studio art and courses in design history and theory, students take electives according to personal academic interests. At the end of the year students present their original work at the annual exhibition of the graduating class held in one of the city’s galleries or museums.
After completing the course of studies, students are awarded the degree of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and one of the professional titles:
Applied Artist
- Designer
- Drama and Audiovisual Artist
The program offers students specialized artistic knowledge necessary for work in institutions in the field of art, culture, as well as in variety of related fields:
- Students learn about the history of art and design, visual communication and other theoretical disciplines the knowledge of which is a precondition for artistic practice; opting for a particular module enables students to specialize in particular artistic professions in the fields of design and applied arts;
- Owing to the practical character of courses within modules students acquire skills necessary for artistic work;
- Through work on the final project, students develop their creativity additionally, preparing thus for independent artistic work;
- On completing undergraduate studies, students are ready to begin their artistic career in suitable institutions, as well as continue studies at postgraduate master studies.
The diplomas of FUD are recognized in the country and abroad.
Graduates of FUD trained both as designers in the mentioned fields of applied arts, and also as successful entrepreneurs.

GRADUATE MASTER STUDIES AT FUD
Programs:
- Graduate Studies of Arts and Design
- Graduate Studies of Drama and Audiovisual Arts
Graduate studies at FUD combine acquisition of theoretical knowledge with development of artistic skills through lectures, workshops, study trips and individual presentations.
Studio art courses are conducted in small groups. Students work closely with a mentor on individual artistic projects. Each semester student takes three core courses and two electives, which can be taken at different departments. All courses semester-long.

Credits for the program: 60 ECTS.
DOCTORAL STUDIES AT FUD
Program:
- Doctoral Studies in Fine Arts
FUD offers doctoral studies in Painting, Scenography, Video and Multimedia.
Doctoral studies have been accredited, and are the first such program in the country to have received accreditation from the Ministry of Education.
The studies last 3 years (six semesters), and during the whole period of study students take courses in theory and history of art and design, as well as studio art. Doctoral thesis project is submitted during the last semester of study for evaluation and defense in front of the committee.
Credits for the program: 180 ECTS.
